In 2006 I ran 24 Open Space meetings for government departments, colleges and voluntary organisations. The meetings varied in size from 15 participants to 250 and lasted from 2 hours to 2 days. They all worked well and my clients would be happy to talk about their experience; Open Space is an excellent process. I first used Open Space when I was Principal of a large and successful inner city college where we used process tools routinely to build an open, positive and focussed organisational culture. I now work as a facilitator, trainer and coach and, with my friend Susan Murray, have written a recipe book of process tools called ‘Getting On Brilliantly’; published by NIACE. Health Directions Roma is passionate about connecting people to each other and ideas. Working with organisations, communities and individuals she creates the space for people to use their own initiative to develop ideas and find appropriate and sometimes unexpected solutions. She designs processes that create possibilities by bringing all perspectives together in creative ways. Open Space is central to the way Roma works; examples include being a commission by Nat West Bank, the RBS and the UK HM Treasury to facilitate a series of two day events, over three years to rethink regeneration. www.Enterpriseforall.info Roma trains people to facilitate Open Space events.

Since 1992, Open Space has been a favourite ingredient in the large kitbag of approaches I use to help (generally large) groups of people have effective conversations together – for many, many different reasons. Common requests for help include building leadership and organisation alignment, addressing entrenched conflicts, undertaking tough strategic thinking, creating active multi-stakeholder partnerships and delivering genuine community engagement. Whatever the sector or need, we partner with clients, to design and facilitate highly interactive programmes engaging people in creating vision, energy and commitment to new ways of working. The focused use of theatre, arts, storytelling and training complete the picture.
